Munich Security Conference withdraws invitations to Iranian officials
A spokesperson for the Munich Security Conference told Iran International on January 16 that invitations previously extended to Iranian government representatives have been withdrawn, and no Iranian officials will attend the upcoming event.
According to the spokesperson, although invitations had been issued to some Iranian officials weeks ago, they are no longer valid “in light of recent developments” and will not be renewed, Caliber.Az reports.
When asked whether the conference might invite representatives from Iran’s opposition or civil society, the spokesperson said organisers are closely monitoring the situation but would not provide further details at this stage of preparations.
Earlier reports stated that Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had been invited to the Munich Security Conference.
