Turkish army kills two PKK militants in Iraq
The Turkish Armed Forces have neutralised two terrorists of the terrorist organisation PKK in northern Iraq.
The announcement came from the Ministry of National Defence of Türkiye on August 8, Anadolu Agency reports.
The militants were neutralised in the zone of the anti-terror operation Pençe-Kilit (Claw-Lock), the ministry noted.
The ministry vowed to keep fighting terrorism until the last terrorist is eliminated.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said from 1984, when the PKK militants first carried out a bloody crime in Türkiye, to March 2020, 7,500 members of the Turkish security forces and 6,800 civilians have been killed in bloody terror acts committed by this organisation.
The United States, the European Union, and Türkiye have officially recognized PKK as a terrorist organisation.
Despite Ankara's attempts to resolve the situation, the PKK terrorist organisation has resumed armed attacks since July 2015.
In recent years, the terrorists have been attempting to shift responsibility for the bloody crimes in the region to its offshoots.
In Syria, PKK terrorists cover disguise under PYD and YPG designations, and in the last two years they have called themselves the “Syrian Democratic Forces”.
In Iran, the PKK operates as the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).
