Turkish MFA: Holding of so-called "elections" in Garabagh - violation of international law
Türkiye does not recognise the so-called "elections" held by the separatist regime in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Türkiye does not recognise these illegal elections, which represent a violation of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We call on the UN and the international community not to recognise these elections," the statement reads, according to Report.
It is noted that the so-called "elections" are a violation of international law, including UN Security Council resolutions and OSCE principles. "We condemn and regard these elections, which are being held at a time when Azerbaijan and Armenia seek to continue peace talks, as a step aimed at undermining them."
"Türkiye supports the peace negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and continues to believe that the signing of a long-term peace agreement in the near future will significantly contribute to peace and stability in the region," the Turkish Foreign Ministry concluded.
