Allied cooperation confirmed as Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan deepen parliamentary ties
Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations have now reached the level of allied cooperation, underpinned by mutual trust, friendship, and the political will of both nations' leaders, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova said.
In a press statement during the inaugural Uzbek-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Forum, co-hosted with Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Gafarova highlighted the remarkable pace at which bilateral relations have developed. She described the current level of cooperation between the two countries as historically significant, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Thanks to the political will of our presidents, Azerbaijani-Uzbek relations, based on strong friendship and brotherhood, are developing more intensively every day and have already reached the level of allied ties in a short period of time,” Gafarova stated.
She praised the successful organization of the first inter-parliamentary forum and expressed confidence that the discussions held would positively influence bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The forum, she noted, is a clear testament to the close bonds shared by the Azerbaijani and Uzbek peoples and their governments.
Gafarova emphasized the strategic importance of parliamentary collaboration in enhancing legal frameworks and institutional alignment. “The forum provides an opportunity to establish interaction between parliamentary committees, which is important for strengthening and improving the legislative base, as well as for exchanging experience in the field of legislative activity,” she said.
She also welcomed the signing of key bilateral documents between the legislative bodies, which she believes will take parliamentary cooperation to a “qualitatively new level.” A permanent Inter-Parliamentary Commission has been established, aimed at facilitating ongoing coordination, more effective implementation of joint plans, and the deepening of strategic dialogue.
