Minister: Azerbaijani police stand as guardians of citizens’ rights VIDEO
Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Vilayat Eyvazov, reaffirmed the police force's unwavering commitment to protecting citizens' rights and freedoms during events commemorating the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijani police.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Minister Eyvazov, accompanied by senior ministry officials, paid tribute to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports.
The delegation visited the Alley of Honour in Baku, where they laid a wreath at the grave of the late president and founding father of modern Azerbaijan.
The commemorative day continued with a formal ceremony held at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The event not only honoured Police Day but also marked the graduation of the academy’s 2024–2025 academic year.
In his address, Minister Eyvazov highlighted the significant progress made under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in modernising the police force. “Thanks to the special attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, a powerful and modern material and technical base has been created in the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” Eyvazov stated. “Structural reforms have been carried out in line with the challenges of the times, and systematic measures are being implemented to strengthen the social protection of personnel and improve their professional training.”
Eyvazov praised the achievements of the police in maintaining public order and combating crime, particularly transnational crime, emphasising that the force guarantees the protection of “the legitimate interests, rights, and freedoms of every person at a high level.”
The ceremony concluded with Minister Eyvazov personally presenting diplomas to the graduating cadets of the Police Academy.
It is worth noting that July 2 was designated as Azerbaijani Police Day by a presidential decree issued by national leader Heydar Aliyev on May 24, 1998, in recognition of the police force’s role in safeguarding national security and public order.
