Turkish minister visits Akkuyu nuclear power plant’s site in Mersin
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez has visited the site of the country's first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu, which is being built in the Gulnar district of Mersin province.
Donmez, who was in the province to review the consequences of the powerful earthquakes on February 6, visited the Akkuyu plant to get information about the current work and talk to the management, the Turkish Energy Ministry told Anadolu.
The minister also held the talks with Alexey Likhachev, director general of Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, who is in Türkiye, in narrow and broad formats.
The topic of construction of the Akkuyu plant, as well as the process of commissioning the first reactor, were discussed.
Proceeding from the results of the research, the nuclear power plant which is under construction was not damaged as a result of powerful earthquakes.
