Turkish Navy deploys ZAHA floating armoured assault vehicle in drills PHOTO

12 June 2023 13:49

Armoured assault vehicle ZAHA produced by FNSS for the first time participated in the exercises of the Turkish Navy held from 1 to 4 June 2023.

During the phase of the naval exercise, ZAHA tracked amphibious armoured personnel carriers launched from the landing docks of the TCG ANADOLU warship, quickly covered the distance between the ship and the shore, allowing the marines to land under armour protection and with minimal delay, Caliber.Az reports, citing Defence Turk's Twitter page.

A video of the exercise also included the video showing the moments when personnel were transported by helicopter from TCG Anadolu, disembarking with the Marine Assault Vehicle (MAV), as well as firefighting and first aid activities.

Some nine units of MAV were delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces Command Amphibious Infantry Brigade in a ceremony held on May 26 at the FNSS headquarters in Gölbaşı.

As part of the project, 27 vehicles will be delivered, including 23 armoured personnel carriers, 2 control vehicles and 2 rescue vehicles developed by FNSS. The ÇAKA Dual Remote Weapon System developed by FNSS will be an important factor in increasing the strength of Marine units in amphibious operations, as it provides firepower to armoured ZAHA personnel with a 40mm grenade launcher and a 12.7mm machine gun.

ZAHA, which is the first armoured personnel carrier designed for both sea and land in service with the Armed Forces, as well as the second vehicle in the world capable of correcting itself in the event of a rollover and operating in harsh sea conditions, represents an important point in terms of displaying the design capabilities of Turkish ground vehicles.
