Türkiye, Hamas meet to advance phase two of Gaza peace plan
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met in Ankara with a Hamas delegation led by Political Bureau member Khalil al-Hayya, Turkish Foreign Ministry announced.
During the meeting, Fidan and the delegation reviewed the latest developments in Gaza, including an exchange of views on phase two of the Gaza peace plan, ministry sources said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Fidan emphasized that Türkiye continues to defend the rights of Palestinians “in the strongest manner on every platform” and briefed the delegation on his country’s ongoing efforts to address housing needs and provide humanitarian assistance in the war-battered enclave.
The Hamas delegation stated that it has fulfilled the conditions of the ceasefire, but Israeli attacks on Gaza continue, preventing progress toward the second phase of the peace plan.
They added that 60% of trucks permitted into Gaza carry commercial goods, while the volume of humanitarian aid remains insufficient to meet urgent needs. The delegation highlighted persistent shortages of basic necessities, medicines, shelter materials, and fuel.
The talks also covered developments in the Palestinian reconciliation process and the situation in the West Bank, with Israel’s actions in the territory described as unacceptable during the discussions.
