Türkiye sees post-election opening for Armenia–Azerbaijan peace accord
Türkiye has said it hopes the political conditions emerging after Armenia’s parliamentary elections will enable progress towards a final peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In a statement cited by Turkish media, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the outcome of the vote in Armenia and said it wished the results would “serve the interests of the Armenian people”.
“We hope that in the post-election period conditions will be created that will make it possible to sign a final peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the ministry said.
Ankara also reiterated its expectation that the electoral outcome could help unlock diplomatic momentum in the South Caucasus, where Baku and Yerevan have been engaged in ongoing negotiations aimed at normalising relations following years of conflict.
The foreign ministry added that Türkiye would continue to support efforts to promote stability in the region, emphasising what it described as shared regional interests among South Caucasus states.
Türkiye has consistently backed the peace process between its close ally Azerbaijan and Armenia, linking long-term normalisation in the region to broader prospects for economic integration and connectivity across the South Caucasus.
