Turkmenistan to host opening ceremony of new city

The new city of Arkadag will be opened on June 29, 2023. The corresponding Decree was signed on June 16 by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

According to the official media of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the administration of Arkadag City, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Ministry of Culture, and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs were tasked to ensure the opening of the Arkadag city on a high level, Business Turkmenistan reports.

The document, adopted on the initiative of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has instructed the Ministry of Culture, the State Committee for Television, Radio, and Cinematography, and the State News Agency to organize the opening ceremony of the city of Arkadag, which is built on the concept of a "smart city" using advanced new technologies. The government agencies will also be responsible for providing high-level media coverage of activities in Turkmenistan related to the "smart city" concept.

The President of Turkmenistan held a comprehensive meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in the city of Arkadag on June 16 and took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the second stage of the Arkadag city. During the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov said that 336 modern facilities were built in the first stage of Arkadag City on the basis of the "smart city" concept.

The Cabinet of Ministers’ comprehensive meeting also reviewed ways to improve the living conditions of the Turkmen people.
