UK diplomat: Armata, Su-57 propaganda, Russia fights with T-62, BTR-50
Russians remove from storage and deploy in the war T-62 tanks and BTR-50 armoured personnel carriers that were put into service in 1954.
The statement came from UK representative to the OSCE in Vienna Ian Stubbs, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, Russia has suffered huge losses in armoured vehicles, and therefore needs troops supply. He noted that this forces the enemy to bring 60-year-old T-62s into battle.
Since the summer of 2022, about 800 obsolete T-62s have been removed from storage. More recently, Russian BTR-50 armoured personnel carriers, rare vehicles that were first put in service in the Russian army in 1954, have also been deployed in Ukraine," Stubbs said.
The UK diplomat went on to say that the T-14 Armata tank advertised by Russian propaganda turned out to be a "white elephant" that can barely participate in a parade, let alone fight and that Russian Federation pilots do not trust the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter, refusing to fly it over Ukraine.
"The Russian military command demonstrates a striking lack of competence and wastes strategic resources for the sake of small tactical victories. Everyone sees the truth: Russia's military and defence industry will be defeated in Ukraine," the diplomat said.
