Ukraine launches framework talks with EU and NATO on peace plan
Ukraine has begun joint negotiations with European partners and NATO representatives in Kyiv, focusing on security guarantees and approaches to a future peace plan.
According to RBC-Ukraine, the start of the talks was announced by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.
Umerov said the Ukrainian delegation includes Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Andriy Gnativ, First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsya, and Oleksandr Bevz, an adviser to the Office of the President.
The initial phase of the negotiations is dedicated to framework documents. These discussions cover security guarantees for Ukraine, approaches to shaping a peace plan, and coordination of the sequence of further joint steps with international partners. Umerov stressed that the work is aimed at developing realistic solutions based on shared responsibility between Ukraine and its European allies.
RBC-Ukraine reported that 18 representatives from European countries and NATO are participating in the meetings. It is also known that US Special Representative Steve Whitcoff will take part in the economic session.
In addition, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is expected to join other sessions of the talks.
