Ukraine moves to extend martial law, mobilisation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted draft legislation to parliament seeking to extend martial law and general mobilisation for another 90 days, starting February 3, 2026, according to documents published on the Verkhovna Rada’s website.
Martial law was first imposed on February 24, 2022, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. A nationwide general mobilization order was signed the following day. Both measures have been repeatedly extended as the war continues, Caliber.Az reports.
The most recent extension was approved on October 30, 2025, prolonging martial law and mobilization until February 3, 2026. Under Ukrainian law, such measures must be renewed every 90 days. The current countdown for the next extension began on November 5, 2025.
If approved by parliament, the proposed bills would maintain the existing emergency and mobilization frameworks through early May 2026.
