Ukraine’s Parliament begins preparation for elections
Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) has launched a systematic and transparent process to develop legislative solutions for organising elections during a special legal regime and the postwar period, outlining key priorities and next steps.
The Parliament said in a statement published on its official Telegram channel that a dedicated working group has been established to carry out this task, per Caliber.Az.
The group consists of 64 members, including representatives of all parliamentary factions and groups. It is chaired by First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Korniyenko, with MPs including committee heads Olena Shuliak, Oleksandr Zavitnevych, and Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratiuk. Its mandate emphasises a "systematic and transparent" process to address key challenges like voter safety, participation of displaced persons and military personnel, voting in occupied territories, and updated registries.
The working group was formally created by an order from Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk on December 22, 2025, with the first meeting held on December 26 in an online format.
The next meeting of the working group is scheduled for the first half of January 2026, no later than January 9.
