Ukrainian lieutenant general explains difference between German Leopard 2, Soviet tanks

Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk has said that German Leopard 2 tanks are more powerful than Soviet models.

Pavlyuk made these remarks during the telethon, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“The USSR tanks are unlikely to withstand a direct blow. The experienced Ukrainian tankers who participated in battles on Soviet tanks were trained to drive German Leopard 2. Leopard 2 tanks have firepower, armour, a strong engine and crew protection system,” he said.

He added that another difference is the range of attack.

“In a Soviet tank, the crew has very little chance of surviving after being hit. Let's hope that these tanks will help us win,” the lieutenant general said.
