Ukrainian PM hosts high-level US military delegation amid ongoing Russian attacks
On November 20, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko met with US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, who is on a visit to Kyiv.
“Pleased to welcome Daniel P. Driscoll, Secretary of the US Army, on his first visit to Ukraine. This visit provides an important opportunity for the senior military officials accompanying the Secretary to assess the situation on the ground and to witness firsthand the consequences of Russian aggression,” Svyrydenko said, Caliber.Az reports, citing her Telegram channel.
The Prime Minister emphasized that amid ongoing Russian attacks on civilians, residential buildings, and critical infrastructure, international pressure on Russia remains effective. “It is crucial to further strengthen energy and financial sanctions against the aggressor state,” she added.
Svyrydenko also confirmed that the US-Ukraine Investment Fund for Reconstruction, initiated by US President Donald Trump, has successfully commenced operations and is expanding its activities.
The visit follows the arrival on November 19 of a high-level Pentagon delegation in Kyiv, tasked with resuming negotiations with Russia on ending the war. Secretary Driscoll, accompanied by two four-star generals, is scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian officials, and senior industry representatives.
According to Ukrainian media, President Zelenskyy’s meeting with the American generals is set for the afternoon of November 20. Available reports indicate that the delegation will encourage Ukraine’s leadership to pursue a peace agreement with Russia, as part of broader diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict.
