US agrees to Iran’s conditions for nuclear talks, Iranian lawmaker says

13 February 2026 16:40

The United States has accepted Iran’s terms for resuming nuclear negotiations, including holding discussions in Oman and limiting the agenda to nuclear issues, an Iranian lawmaker has said.

Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of Iran’s parliament's national security committee, told local media on Friday (February 13) that Washington had requested the talks and agreed to Tehran’s conditions, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.

These reportedly include recognition of Iran’s right to enrich uranium and restricting negotiations strictly to nuclear matters.

After months of stagnation, indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States have resumed in Muscat, Oman, under Omani mediation. Iranian officials described initial sessions as a “good start,” with both sides agreeing in principle to continue discussions.

Iran’s top security officials and foreign minister have engaged with U.S. envoys as part of shuttle diplomacy, focusing strictly on nuclear issues and sidelining broader contentious matters such as missiles and regional policy.

A key sticking point continues to be Iran’s right to enrich uranium. Tehran insists on maintaining domestic enrichment and has rejected calls to halt the programme entirely, even amid indirect talks with Washington.

Regional diplomacy suggests both sides may be showing some flexibility: Turkiye’s foreign minister said the U.S. appears willing to tolerate limited Iranian enrichment under agreed boundaries, while Tehran maintains its core demands.
