US committed to diplomatic resolution between Azerbaijan, Armenia, State Department says
The United States remains committed to working towards a diplomatic resolution between Azerbaijan and Armenia, according to US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
During a briefing on July 9, reported by Caliber.Az, Miller highlighted ongoing efforts by the US to facilitate dialogue between the two nations.
When asked about the possibility of a meeting between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, coinciding with the NATO meeting, Miller stated, "I don’t have any announcements to make regarding the schedule. You know that that is always the case with these matters."
The spokesman reiterated the US's dedication to peace, adding, "We continue to work for a diplomatic resolution."
The NATO summit, taking place in Washington from July 9 to 11, will see the participation of representatives from 32 NATO member states, partner countries, and the European Union. This year's summit, themed "Ukraine and Transatlantic Security," also marks the 75th anniversary of NATO.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov is set to attend the summit. In a recent briefing in Baku, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien confirmed that Secretary of State Antony Blinken is hosting the event for all NATO partners, including Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The NATO summit aims to address key issues affecting the transatlantic alliance, with a particular focus on the ongoing situation in Ukraine and broader security concerns in the region. As diplomatic efforts continue, the US remains hopeful for a positive outcome in the Azerbaijan-Armenia dialogue.
