US in contact with Russia over operations in Syrian airspace, official says

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin has said that Washington is in contact with Moscow over operations in Syria's airspace.

He emphasised that the US will continue to conduct operations in Syria as it has always done, TASS reports.

"We will continue to engage, using established channels to communicate our concerns, and we will continue to engage with the high command accordingly. But again, we will continue to conduct operations as we have always done in airspace, and we will protect our interests as our capabilities allow," Austin said following US-Australia talks in Brisbane.
