06 August 2024 12:56
The US Department of Defence is upgrading B-52 Stratofortress bombers produced in the 1960s.
As part of the programme, it is planned to replace engines and install new radars. The cost of the work could be up to $15 billion, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The US Air Force (Air Force) wants to extend the life of the B-52 for another "three decades".
According to the US Air Force, the cost of the programme to install new Rolls-Royce F130 engines to replace the old Pratt & Whitney TF33 and radars from the US company Raytheon exceeds "billions of dollars".
