Georgia expresses willingness to mediate between Azerbaijan and Armenia
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has expressed his country's readiness to facilitate dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan in an effort to support regional peace and stability.
His remarks came during a meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan on the sidelines of a conference of landlocked countries held in Turkmenistan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Kobakhidze emphasised that Georgia is prepared to promote discussions between the two neighbouring countries, noting that this would contribute to long-term stability and peace in the South Caucasus.
He also pointed to the recent joint statement by Armenia and Azerbaijan on finalising peace treaty discussions as a significant development toward that goal.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed bilateral ties and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation in various fields. Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili was also present at the talks.
