Uzbekistan, Japan discuss expanding healthcare, pharmaceutical cooperation

Representatives of Uzbekistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) discussed expanding cooperation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals during a meeting in Tashkent, Uzbek media reported on Tuesday.

According to UzDaily, the meeting was held at the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, where Director Abdulla Azizov outlined reforms aimed at boosting domestic pharmaceutical production, attracting investment, promoting innovation and strengthening international cooperation.

The two sides also discussed technology transfer, scientific research, specialist training and investment projects.

JICA representatives presented the agency's technical assistance programmes in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors and outlined opportunities for joint initiatives.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to expand practical cooperation and develop joint innovation projects in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
