UK ready to deploy troops to Ukraine after ceasefire, says British PM

The United Kingdom is prepared to deploy a multinational force to Ukraine once a ceasefire is reached, Prime Minister Andy Burnham said during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The meeting took place aboard the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth. Zelenskyy became the first foreign leader received by Britain's new prime minister since taking office, Caliber.Az reports.

"We will help you secure the peace. We will continue to lead the coalition of the willing together with our allies. And when a ceasefire is finally in place, we will be ready to deploy a multinational force to strengthen Ukraine's security for the long term," Burnham said.

He pledged London's support for achieving a "full and unconditional ceasefire" and restarting negotiations.

"It is intended to send a very clear message: we are with Ukraine 100%, I am personally with you 100%, and I will honour every commitment this country has made to Ukraine in full," Burnham added.

The prime minister also announced the delivery of new British electronic warfare technology to help protect Ukraine's Stone Cloak drones. According to Burnham's office, thousands of the electronic warfare systems have already been supplied to Kyiv.

Stone Cloak is a British electronic warfare (EW) system, roughly the size of a tablet, designed to be mounted on drones to make them more difficult for air defence systems to detect.
