Moldova declares 30-day state of emergency

The Moldovan government has declared a 30-day state of emergency in the energy sector in response to disruptions in fuel supplies, according to the government's press office.

The decision was approved during a cabinet meeting after Prime Minister Vasile Tofan proposed the measure, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media. 

"I propose declaring a state of emergency at national level in the energy sector for a period of 30 days," Tofan said.

The proposal received the backing of cabinet members and will take effect once it is published in Moldova's Official Gazette.

The government said the emergency declaration is intended to address disruptions affecting the country's energy supply, but did not immediately provide further details on the nature of the fuel shortages or the measures that will be implemented during the 30-day period.
