Deadly cloudburst sparks urgent rescue mission in northern India Over 50 people missing / Video
A powerful cloudburst struck the village of Dharali near Harsil in India’s Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on August 5, prompting large-scale rescue and relief efforts across the affected area.
Authorities confirmed that surging water levels in the Kheer Ganga stream caused extensive damage in the area, with over 50 people reported missing and emergency teams swiftly deployed to the scene, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"In Uttarkashi, due to the surge in water levels of the Kheer Gadh stream in Harsil, reports of damage in Dharali have emerged.
Police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the army and other disaster response agencies are currently engaged in ongoing rescue and relief operations at the site," Uttarakhand Police said in a statement.
