Official: US views upcoming deal with Ukraine as significant step toward peace
White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt has said that the US is optimistic that its forthcoming agreement with Ukraine regarding rare earth metals will play a pivotal role in advancing peace.
In a recent statement, Levitt emphasised the importance of the deal, calling it absolutely necessary and crucial, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
She explained that the agreement would not only help reimburse US taxpayer dollars, but also strengthen the economic ties between the US and Ukrainian people.
Levitt stated that the US had financed over $300 billion for Ukraine's national defence and that the upcoming agreement would establish an incredible economic partnership between the two nations as Ukraine worked to rebuild after the brutal war.
She emphasised that this was a significant step toward peace. In addition to its potential impact on Ukraine’s post-war recovery, Levitt highlighted the strategic significance of the deal for US national security. She noted that the agreement would grant the US access to extremely important minerals, critical for maintaining its defence capabilities.
