US warns of terror, cyber threats after strikes on Iran
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has issued a warning about potential terrorist and cyberattacks in connection with ongoing strikes against Iran.
The advisory, reported by ABC News, comes from federal law enforcement agencies expressing concern over potential “lone-wolf” attacks and cyber threats, particularly from groups or activists supporting Iran and its allies.
“While a large-scale physical attack is unlikely, Iran and its proxy groups likely pose a persistent threat of targeted attacks on U.S. soil and will almost certainly escalate retaliatory actions,” the document states.
According to ABC News, the warning was issued ahead of a recent armed attack in Austin, Texas. The New York Post earlier reported, citing law enforcement sources, that the shooting at an Austin bar may have been motivated by retaliation for U.S. military operations against Iran. The incident left two dead and 14 injured.
