Uzbekistan sends first cargo train to Europe on Middle Corridor
The first freight train left Uzbekistan last week along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
The train, which departed the Central Asian country on December 16, will move traverse five countries on way to its final destination, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Bulgaria along a more than 4,000 km route, Gazeta.Ru reports, citing the press service of Uzbekistan's national railway company Uztemiryulcontainer.
The train consists of 46 wagons and 91 shipping containers loaded with copper concentrate from the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant. The final destination is the Bulgarian port of Burgas.
The train is operated by the Uzbek national railway company together with foreign partners from Turkmenistan (TLCT company), Azerbaijan (ADY Container), and Georgia (GR Logistics and Terminals).
