Armenia says serviceman died of causes unrelated to service UPDATED

Armenia’s Defence Ministry said a 37-year-old serviceman who died at a military base in Sisian, in the Syunik region, died of causes unrelated to his military service.

The ministry said an investigation into the incident has been launched, Caliber.Az reports.

Earlier reports had said the serviceman had apparently taken his own life. The Defence Ministry’s preliminary findings have not confirmed that account.

An Armenian serviceman has died in an apparent suicide at a military base in Sisian, in the Syunik region.

No official statement has been issued regarding the incident, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media. 

The death is reportedly the second involving an Armenian serviceman in the past two days and the fifth such incident recorded in the Armenian army this month.
