Venezuela blames US and Latin American nations for interference
Venezuelan authorities have denounced a statement from the US and ten Latin American countries that refused to recognize the Supreme Court’s affirmation of President Nicolás Maduro’s election victory.
They have condemned this stance as arrogant and an intrusion into Venezuela's internal affairs, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
In a statement, Foreign Minister Iván Gil Pinto criticized the governments of Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.
“Venezuela strongly condemns the boorish and insolent statement of the governments of Argentina, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, which are trying to continue to violate international law by committing an unacceptable act of interference in the affairs of Venezuelans,” Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto said.
He stated that these countries are complicit in the violence targeting Venezuelan medical centres, schools, universities, transportation, and national symbols.
On August 23, the US and the ten Latin American nations issued a statement calling for an “independent audit of the votes” in Venezuela’s presidential election, questioning the impartiality of the Supreme Court and the National Electoral Council.
