Washington condemns deadly explosion in Istanbul
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre issued a statement on November 13 to condemn the act of violence in Istanbul, Türkiye.
"The United States strongly condemns the act of violence that took place today in Istanbul, Türkiye. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and our deepest condolences go to those who lost loved ones. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our NATO Ally Turkiye in countering terrorism," reads the statement.
At least 8 people were killed and 81 injured in the deadly explosion that took place in central Istiklal Avenue in Istanbul on November 13. Turkish Interior Ministry has already detained the perpetrator and said initial assessments of the incident put the responsibility on PKK/YPG terrorist organisation in Syria for the crime.
Meanwhile, presidents of Azerbaijan, Israel, Ukraine, and Belarus, as well as the NATO secretary-general and others have also condemned the terrorist attack and voiced solidarity with Türkiye.
