World's oldest woman dies at 119 PHOTO
The oldest woman in the world, who was also considered the oldest inhabitant of the Earth according to the Guinness Book of Records, Japanese Kane Tanaka died at the age of 119. This was announced on Monday by the NHK TV channel.
On January 2 this year, Tanaka celebrated her 119th birthday. She lived in a nursing home in Fukuoka Prefecture and, due to antivirus restrictions, had little opportunity to meet her relatives.
The Japanese woman was born on January 2, 1903. Her husband and eldest son died during World War II. Tanaka worked all her life in a rice cake shop that opened before the war. After her retirement in the 1970s, she traveled to the United States several times.
Since 2005, Tanaka has lived in a nursing home in Fukuoka. She had a habit of getting up early, loved to play reversi and other board games, and indulged in sweets. At the age of 103, a Japanese woman had a cancerous tumor removed; since then, other serious ailments have not bothered her.
