WP: Sensitive White House documents accidentally shared with thousands of federal workers
Government officials under both the Biden and Trump administrations improperly shared sensitive documents—including potentially classified White House floor plans—with more than 11,000 federal employees, internal records reviewed by The Washington Post reveal.
The incident was triggered by career employees at the General Services Administration (GSA), the agency responsible for managing federal real estate and providing administrative and technological support across the government.
According to records, GSA employees inadvertently shared a Google Drive folder containing the sensitive files with the entire agency staff—totaling more than 11,200 people, as listed in the agency’s directory.
The mistakenly exposed information included proposed schematics for a blast door at the White House Visitor Center, as well as bank account details for a vendor who supported a Trump-era news conference.
The data exposure prompted the filing of a cybersecurity incident report and launched an internal investigation last week. Officials have not confirmed whether the documents were classified, though the nature of the material has raised alarms among security experts.
