Yemeni army strikes Israeli military targets in Jaffa with hypersonic missiles
The Yemeni Armed Forces conducted a major military operation, targeting two key Israeli military sites in the occupied Jaffa area with two "Palestine-2" hypersonic ballistic missiles.
In a televised statement, Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e, the spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed that the operation was carried out with precision and successfully achieved its objectives, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.
The statement noted that the attack coincided with Israeli aggression against civilian infrastructure in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, and the province of Hodeidah, and was executed as a direct response to those actions.
It was emphasized that the operation is part of Yemen’s ongoing commitment to supporting the oppressed Palestinian people and aligns with the fifth phase of its response to Israeli aggression against Yemen.
The Yemeni Armed Forces stressed that Israeli attacks would not deter Yemen and its people from fulfilling their religious and moral obligation to respond to the massacres in Gaza. They reiterated that such operations will continue, targeting enemy sites with suitable weapons, as long as the aggression and siege on Gaza persist.
The forces affirmed their commitment, stating that their operations will cease only when Israeli aggression against Gaza ends and the blockade is lifted.
Earlier, the Houthi-controlled Al Masirah TV channel reported that nine people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Yemen.
The strikes targeted key infrastructure, including ports and energy facilities, in areas under the control of the Ansar Allah movement.
The air raid on the port city of Al-Salif claimed seven lives, while two more fatalities were reported at an oil facility in the Ras Isa neighbourhood in Yemen’s al-Hodeida province. Additionally, reports indicate that two central power stations in Sana’a were bombed.
The Israeli Defense Ministry confirmed the strikes, stating that they targeted facilities linked to the Houthi rebels.
The Israeli Air Force reportedly conducted precision strikes with dozens of fighter jets and refuelling aircraft, targeting military installations approximately 2,000 kilometres from Israeli territory.
The strikes came after a rocket launched from Yemen towards central Israel was intercepted overnight. The Israeli military confirmed the interception of a ballistic missile by its Arrow long-range air defence system.
Debris from the intercepted missile caused significant damage in Israel. A school in Ramat Gan collapsed after being struck by a large fragment, though no casualties were reported. Sirens were activated across central Israel during the incident.
Since the beginning of the Israeli regime’s war on Gaza on October 7, 2023—following the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Palestinian resistance movements—Yemen has strongly supported Palestine’s struggle against occupation. The Yemeni Armed Forces have regularly launched strikes on Israel as part of a phased escalation.
This campaign has included a maritime blockade on Israeli shipping, preventing vessels from reaching Israeli ports. The initial phase targeted the port of Umm al-Rashrash in southern occupied Palestine. This recent escalation marks the culmination of a year-long series of actions spanning five phases.
Yemeni military capabilities have now enabled strikes deep into Israel, including Jaffa (also referred to as Tel Aviv) and other crucial locations. These attacks have utilized hypersonic missiles and advanced drones with significant destructive power, targeting ports and critical military infrastructure throughout occupied Palestine.
