Zelenskyy appoints new head of Ukraine’s security service, meets former FM PHOTO
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Yevhen Khmara as the new head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
According to Ukrainian media outlet Politika Strany, Khmara takes over from Vasyl Malyuk, who has been relieved of his duties as SBU chief. Malyuk will remain within the agency and assume responsibility for the Alpha Special Operations Centre (CSO “A”), a role previously held by Khmara.
In a separate development, Zelenskyy met with former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to discuss the current political and informational situation surrounding Ukraine.
Writing on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy said: “I met with Dmytro Kuleba. We discussed the situation around Ukraine — both politically and in terms of information. It is important that the Ukrainian perspective is presented internationally and heard strongly.”
