Uzbekistan outpaces Russia in car production in Apr-Jun
The number of cars produced in Russia from April to June 2022 has turned out to be less than in Uzbekistan.
However, over the first half of this year, Russia outstripped Uzbekistan in car production thanks to the good results gained in the first quarter, and the difference is already minimal, Gazeta.ru informs citing the National Industrial Information Agency.
This year, the production of passenger cars in Uzbekistan has been growing all months compared to last year. If the growth rate in Uzbekistan is maintained and the production of cars in Russia is slowly recovering, by the end of the year the gap between Uzbekistan and Russia may be less than 100,000 cars.
The sales of brand-new cars in Russia shrank by 74.9 per cent or 96,800 units in July 2022 compared to the same month of 2021. A total of 32,400 cars were sold in Russia this month. AvtoVAZ remains the leader in car sales in the Russian market, in July dealers sold 10,300 Lada cars. Kia and Hyundai brands follow with 3,900 and 3,400 units, respectively.
