Türkiye deploys Aksungur UAV to monitor Aegean Sea

Turkish-made Aksungur unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are involved in patrolling the Aegean Sea.

Due to the built-in radar and advanced video shooting system, these drones expand the operational capabilities of the Turkish army, according to the Anadolu Agency.

Aksungur UAVs developed by the Turkish Aerospace Industries company have greatly facilitated the tasks of the Turkish army since they entered the inventory, providing additional benefits.

Turkish-made strike drones are capable of flying up to 50 hours.

It was Aksungur UAVs that recorded the illegal transfer of armoured vehicles by Greece to the islands, which have the international status of demilitarized zones.

The command of the Turkish Navy is armed with three Aksungur devices, which in total have flown about 10,000 hours.

Another Aksungur UAV is used by the Turkish General Forestry Department.

The Aksungur UAV, which made its maiden flight in 2019, has so far integrated 3 EOIR cameras, 2 SATCOM satellite communication systems, Teber 81/82 cruise missiles, a domestic PD170 engine and more.

It is planned to integrate the domestic Kuzgun bomb, a laser guidance system and mini-munitions into the device. Efforts are ongoing to integrate Aksungur with an acoustic tracking system, dubbed sonobuoy, to detect and identify submersibles.

Turkish Aerospace Industries is negotiating contracts for the supply of devices to Asian and African countries.
