Armenia imposes import limits on Iranian agricultural products

03 July 2025 11:37

During a government meeting on July 3, Armenia established specific quotas for the import of agricultural goods from Iran.

According to Armenian news sources, this decision aligns with the comprehensive free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran, which came into effect on May 15, Caliber.Az reports.

While the agreement reduces or eliminates customs duties on many products, it permits member states to set import quotas to safeguard their domestic markets.

The quotas set include 1,000 tons for poultry meat, 53 tons for potatoes, 364 tons for tomatoes, 388 tons for cabbage, 1,791 tons for cucumbers, and 365 tons for tomato paste.

Any imports exceeding these limits will be subject to the standard EAEU customs tariffs — for example, tomato imports face duties ranging from 10 to 15 euros per ton, depending on the season.
