Armenia arrests two in oligarch Karapetyan’s business case Following raid in Tashir Group’s office
Two individuals have been arrested following a search conducted on July 2 at the Yerevan office of Tashir Group, owned by detained oligarch Samvel Karapetyan.
According to Armenia’s Investigative Committee, arrest motions have also been submitted to the court for two additional suspects, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
No further details were disclosed.
The raids are part of a criminal investigation into large-scale money laundering and tax evasion, escalating the pressure on Karapetyan’s business empire amid his June 18 arrest for allegedly inciting a coup and the Armenian Parliament’s move to nationalise his Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA).
The developments are intertwined with Armenia’s domestic political crisis and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s broader campaign against influential figures, including the Armenian Apostolic Church and its supporters.
