Moscow airport restrictions delay S7 airlines flights
Temporary operational restrictions at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport caused delays to 10 flights operated by Russia’s S7 Airlines, the company said on January 2.
S7 Airlines Director of Operations Andrei Shesterin stated that around 1,600 passengers were affected. He said passengers were provided with soft drinks while waiting, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Nine of the delayed flights were held for between one and two-and-a-half hours. The airline plans to accommodate all affected passengers on these services, Shesterin added.
The delays followed reports by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin that air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed a drone near the city earlier in the day. Authorities did not immediately provide further details on the incident or its direct connection to the airport restrictions.
