Russian foreign ministry condemns US strikes on Venezuela

Russia has condemned the United States’s strikes on Venezuelan territory, calling the situation deeply concerning and urging an immediate international response.

In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said the United States carried out an armed aggression against Venezuela and described the move as unacceptable and warned of the risk of further escalation, Caliber.Az reports per TASS. 

The ministry emphasised that the crisis surrounding Venezuela should be resolved through dialogue rather than force. It said Russia is prepared to assist the parties involved in seeking a peaceful solution.

“In the current situation, it is essential to prevent further escalation and focus on finding a way out through dialogue,” the statement said, adding that all parties with grievances should pursue diplomatic means to resolve disputes.

Russia also called for the immediate convening of the United Nations Security Council to address the situation. The Foreign Ministry said it supports calls by Venezuelan authorities and several Latin American leaders for an urgent Security Council meeting.
