Azerbaijani, Georgian Muslims condemn terrorist attack on embassy in Iran

The terrorist attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran has been condemned during the Friday prayer in Baku.

Haji Surkhay Mammadli, member of the Qazi Council (Council of Judges) of the Caucasian Muslims Office, expressed attitude to the bloody attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran in his Friday sermon, Report informs.

He said that the terrorist attack this morning deeply shocked the entire Azerbaijani people.

"I pray for the soul of our compatriot who died as a result of the terrorist attack and for the healing of the wounded. This is a clear terror against the embassy of our country, and, of course, Iran must punish these terrorists," Mammadli added.

Meanwhile, Georgian Muslims also condemned the terrorist act against the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran.

In this regard, Sheikh (religious leader) of the Georgian Muslim Board, Haji (a Muslim who has been to Mecca as a pilgrim) Ramin Igidov, shared a post on behalf of the Georgian clergy, according to APA.

"We condemn the treacherous attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran. May Allah rest the soul of the security officer who died as a result of this incident, we wish healing to the injured embassy staff. We express our condolences to the family and relatives of deceased officer Orkhan Asgarov," the report says.

According to the report, the perpetrators of the attack must be held accountable and punished severely.

An armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran was committed on January 27 morning.

The attacker broke through to the security post of the diplomatic mission and killed the head of the security service by using a Kalashnikov rifle.

Two embassy security guards were also injured while repelling the attack. Their health condition is satisfactory.

The investigation is underway.
