Ukrainian children arrive in Azerbaijan for rehabilitation program PHOTO
Efforts to support children affected by the war in Ukraine continue as Azerbaijan expands its social and psychological rehabilitation program for young survivors of the conflict.
A new group of 30 Ukrainian children has arrived in Azerbaijan to take part in a comprehensive rehabilitation initiative organised by the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, Caliber.Az reports via Azertag.
During a press briefing, Deputy Chairman of the Agency, Zaur Ibrahimov, said the children are being hosted at a rehabilitation camp in Baku, where they will participate in a range of therapeutic and cultural activities. These include individual sessions with professional psychologists, group therapy, yoga and meditation classes, as well as psychosocial training designed to help stabilise their emotional wellbeing.
To provide a broader experience, the children will also take part in masterclasses focused on Azerbaijani cuisine and crafts, along with guided tours of historical and cultural landmarks. Among the planned excursions are visits to the Old City of Baku (Icherisheher), the Maiden Tower, the Shirvanshahs’ Palace Complex, the Ateshgah Fire Temple, and the Yanardag natural gas fire. The program also includes trips to the scenic regions of Gabala and Sheki.
The ten-day rehabilitation program aims not only to provide emotional support but also to foster cultural exchange and a sense of normalcy for the children who have endured the trauma of war.
Since the initiative began, Azerbaijan has welcomed more than 230 Ukrainian children, offering them structured social and psychological support as part of the country’s broader humanitarian efforts.
