Parliament extends martial law, mobilisation in Ukraine for three more months
Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak has said that the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) approved Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decrees on extending martial law and general mobilisation from February 19 for 90 more days until May 18, 2023.
The bill on martial law was supported by 348 MPs, while the bill on mobilisation – by 344 MPs, Zheleznyak said, RBC-Ukraine reports.
The MP said that the drafts were presented at the meeting of the Rada by Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov.
“The decree of the Ukrainian president dated February 6, 2023 #58 ‘On the extension of the period of martial law in Ukraine’ and the decree dated February 6, 2023 #59 ‘On the extension of the general mobilisation’ should be approved,” the documents say.
Laws were immediately announced through the media and come into force from the day of publication.
