Qatar holds off on final decision to gift Trump $400 million luxury Boeing 747-8
Media attaché at the Qatari embassy in Washington Ali Al-Ansari has said that Qatar’s Defence Ministry has not yet decided whether to transfer a $400 million Boeing 747-8 for US President Donald Trump’s temporary use.
The discussions are ongoing between Qatar's Defence Ministry and the US Department of Defence regarding the potential arrangement, but the proposal remains under legal review, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Al-Ansari stated that the Qatari Defence Ministry and the Pentagon were in discussions regarding the possibility of transferring the aircraft to the US president for temporary use, but the matter was still under review by the relevant legal departments, and no final decision had been made.
The administration of President Trump is set to receive a remarkable gift from the Qatari royal family: a luxurious Boeing 747-8 jet. According to reports, the aircraft, valued at approximately $400 million, will be the most expensive gift ever presented to the United States by a foreign government. Sources suggest that the jet could be formally presented to President Trump as soon as next week during his visit to Qatar. The value does not include additional communication and security equipment, which would further enhance the aircraft’s capabilities.
The Boeing 747-8, which features opulent interior suites, has earned the nickname "airborne palace." In February, President Trump had the opportunity to tour the aircraft, which has since been tailored to meet the highest standards of luxury and comfort. Trump will reportedly have use of the jet for the remainder of his presidential term. Afterward, it will be transferred to the Trump Presidential Library.
