Uzbek president visits Turkish embassy to deliver condolences over deadly quake

On February 9, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Embassy of Türkiye in Uzbekistan.
During the visit, President Mirziyoyev once again expressed his condolences to the fraternal people of Türkiye, Anadolu reports.
He said the Uzbek and Turkish always support each other, sharing joys and sorrows. The bonds of friendship, fraternity and mutual assistance show their strength even more clearly on such sad days.
Mirziyoyev assured that Uzbekistan is ready to provide all necessary assistance to Türkiye
He left notes of support and sympathy in the book of condolences at the embassy.
In the meantime, the response to the earthquake also came from Uzbekistan, which has sent a 71-member medical team and equipment for the deployment of a field hospital in Türkiye.
Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry stated that the aid was sent by order of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to Anadolu.
A flight from Tashkent will also deliver humanitarian cargo, including medical supplies, to Gaziantep.
Earlier, the Uzbek government sent humanitarian cargo and a team of 100 rescuers to Türkiye.
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck southeastern Türkiye on February 6. The quake originated in the Pazarcik region of Kahramanmaras province at a depth of 7km. There was severe damage in the provinces of Hatay, Gaziantep, Kilis, Osmaniye, Malatya, Adiyaman, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Adana and Kahramanmaras.
