170-carat pink diamond found in Angola
A unique pink diamond weighing 170 carats was discovered in Angola. This was announced on July 27 on its website by the Australian mining company Lucapa Diamond Company.
“This is a historic find as it is believed to be the largest pink diamond found in the last 300 years. The diamond was named "Rose Lulo," the company said.
This is the fifth largest diamond found in Angola. The largest is the "Stone 4 February" weighing 404 carats, Izvestiya reports.
The diamond will be sold at an international auction to be held in Angola.
On February 16, it was reported that the largest blue diamond was sold for $48 million. It weighs 15.1 carats and has a step cut.
On January 17, the largest black diamond "Enigma" weighing 555.55 carats was put up for auction. It is the largest cut diamond in auction history and one of the largest cut diamonds in the Gübelin and GIA registers. Listed in the Guinness Book of Records 2006.
