Azerbaijani MIA seizes drugs worth $12 million imported from Iran PHOTO/VIDEO
The Ministry of Internal Affairs Main Anti-Drug Department conducted operational activities to combat illicit drug trafficking.
Interior Ministry's press service told Caliber.Az that as a result of the operations held in the capital city and regions against members of a transnational organized gang in Azerbaijan, who were smuggling drugs from Iran to our country, as well as individuals organizing drug sales within the country, members of eight organized groups comprising 83 people were detained.
It is reported that 512 kg of drugs - cocaine, heroin, opium, marijuana, psychotropic substances - methamphetamine, as well as 13 thousand ecstasy and methadone tablets, valued at $12 million on the black market, were seized from illegal circulation.
The operations were carried out in Sumgayit, Absheron district, regions, and the capital.
