Estonia not to accept Russians to be expelled from Latvia

Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets has said that Estonia does not intend to accept Russians, who will be expelled from Latvia because of the lack of proof of knowledge of the Latvian language.

He recalled that the Estonian authorities had also closed the borders for Russian citizens, according to Kommersant.

The minister said that Latvia's wish "is for them not to go somewhere in the Baltic States, but to return to their homeland" because Russia is obliged to accept its citizens.

"I don't know how Latvians will deal with them, but of course, we won't accept them because they need a residence permit to live here and all other rights and conditions must be respected," Läänemets added.
