The Gordian Knot of Palestine Is it really just chopping?
On November 29, the Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan organized a screening of a film assembled by the press service of the Israel Defense Forces from documentary footage obtained from various sources and showing firsthand the crimes against humanity committed by Hamas on the day of the attack on Israel on October 7.
In particular, videos were used from social networks, surveillance cameras of residential premises and barracks outside of Israel, as well as from the security cameras of Hamas terrorists.
Representatives of the media and diplomatic corps were invited to the viewing. This compilation depicted in chilling detail the crimes of Hamas militants on the day of their invasion of Israel and required strong nerves to watch. The footage captured murders, rapes, and torture of Israeli citizens - young, elderly and even children. The main characteristic of these actions could be the extreme cruelty and inhumanity of what is happening.
Yes, Hamas declared war on Israel in the most unequivocal and inhuman form, and Israel is not going to allow itself to be defeated. The retaliatory measures are shaking Gaza and no one knows what will happen after the end of the 4-day truce announced the day before. There has been an exchange of hostages, perhaps there will be several. But peace is not yet visible on this earth. The sympathies of the world community are divided into pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian. Israel needs peace and it needs it today.
After watching a video about Hamas atrocities, any sane person will understand that this organization has no place not only in the land of Israel, but on planet Earth in general. Just as there is no place for fascism or the Inquisition, and apparently, IDF will cope with this task. However, peace will not come to the land of Israel until a Palestinian state is created.
The liquidation of Hamas is a realistic matter, one only has to cut off the financial flows feeding this nest of terror, but the creation of a Palestinian state is an extremely complex, multi-level task that requires concessions on both sides. Still, the certainty of its solution became obvious to everyone after the events of October 7.
The wisdom and resilience of the Jewish people allowed them to survive the Holocaust and other trials that fate had in store for them. I would like to hope that establishing peace in the region will be a feasible task for Israel and that the Gordian knot will still be able to be undone and not cut down.
